With a packed calendar full of some of our favourite events for the year, Term 2 is sure to bring lots of fantastic memories for our music students, including the upcoming Generations in Jazz Camp in Mt Gambier in early May, along with our College Production of Beauty and The Beast at Santa Maria College in Northcote in late May. Term 1 also finished with a flurry of activity, including:
The Year 10 and VCE Music classes travelled to the city and attended the VCE Top Class Music Concert, where they saw the top achievers in Music Performance from 2025 showcase their works at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The performances were extremely engaging and valuable for the students to witness.

In the final week of Term 1, students in our Drumline went to St Bernard's College in Essendon to participate in an ACC hosted music workshop to further their skills and make new friends. This workshop was presented by D-2, a professional Drumline academy specialising in education, masterclasses, and professional performances.

Our college Big Band have been busy preparing for their annual trip to Mount Gambier to compete at 'Generations in Jazz' on Saturday 2 May. The band will be accompanied by Mr Stark, Mr Watson and Mr Saragossi and perform amongst hundreds of other schools from around the country. As well as performing, the students will engage in workshops and attend performances by some top industry professionals both nationally and internationally. This year the headlining act is the world-famous soul band, Tower of Power, all the way from Oakland, California! We wish The Parade College Big Band an enjoyable trip and all the best for their performances!
“Be our guest” as you step into the magical world of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, presented in conjunction with Santa Maria College in Northcote, and hosted at their Benedictine Theatre this year.

A friendly reminder to families that if a student is enrolled in instrumental lessons at Parade College, they must attend a weekly ensemble rehearsal. This is a non-negotiable condition of enrolment in Music lessons. Please check with your instrumental teacher or Mr Cameron Stark if you are unsure which ensemble students should be a part of. For students not attending rehearsal for valid reasons (committee meetings, excursions) an email to the ensemble leader in advance if possible is best practice.
As we launch into Term 2, we wish our students and families all the best for the upcoming weeks. Please do not hesitate to contact the Music department via music@parade.vic.edu.au with any questions.
