Our Year 8 Altior Humanities students recently designed their own real-world business concepts and presented their pitches at the Business Showcase Evening, held in the Rivergum Theatre on Thursday 19 March. Presenting to peers, families, and College leadership, students demonstrated confidence, creativity, teamwork, and strong communication skills. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their hard work and share their ideas with an authentic audience. Thank you to our special guests for attending, to Ms. Emma Mihocic for her support, and congratulations to all students on a highly successful event.

Winning the 2026 Business Showcase at Parade College was an unforgettable moment for me and my partner Sathyan. What started as a simple idea based on existing brands grew over weeks of planning, thinking, and creativity, turning our business into something real. Along the way, we spent many hours working, thinking about ideas, and making sure our business plan looked professional and could succeed. While it was not easy, we learned a lot about teamwork, creativity and gained the experience of making a real business which is something we really value. We are incredibly grateful to Ms Sadigi, Ms Mihocic, and all the staff at Parade College for their guidance, encouragement, and support throughout this project. While we may have won, every one of our classmates’ business ideas was impressive.

The Year 8 Altior class worked collaboratively in pairs and presented their innovative and unique business ideas, which they spent close to a term designing. Our ideas ranged from solar panels to ice cream - so basically, saving the planet and eating it at the same time. Each presentation was engaging and entertaining. Time was allocated to planning, research, and practice. Personally, this event addressed one of my personal interests, economics, and helped develop crucial skills such as communication and collaboration. This was an extremely fun and engaging event, and I would love to do this again. Thank you Ms Sadigi and to all the other teachers and members of leadership who took time out of their busy schedules to attend and help run this amazing night.
