The NLC Staff welcome you back for another exciting year. Join the Parade Reading Challenge, an existing club or suggest a new one, or take part in some of the new initiatives available through the Nash Learning Centre such as the Schools On Air or the Parade Now! Podcast.
In 2026, we continue to invite the whole Parade Community to get involved in the Parade Reading Challenge, powered by Beanstack. This is a digital reading logger where your reading will award you Digital Badges, House Points, and prizes! Major winners this year will be awarded gift cards up worth hundreds of dollars.
Year 7 and 8 students are automatically enrolled in Beanstack, with students in Years 9 to 12, teachers, and staff members invited to enrol via the Learning Centre Homepage. All reading counts towards your House. Using Beanstack is easy – just log in, add, or scan in your book, and add how much time you have spent reading. It can be updated every time you read. The phone app is even easier!
Live leaderboards total the reading per class, year level, and across the school, and bonus time is awarded for completing weekly challenges. All instructions, rewards, and challenges will be found on the Learning Centre Homepage (BeanStack LearnPath), SIMON Daily Messages, and PAM.
Nearly all types of reading and listening to audiobooks count so we invite you to get reading 20+ minutes a day. At Parade, Reading Matters.
We continue to offer daily lunchtime clubs in the Nash Learning Centre, and this year our offerings include:
Year 7 Meet & Greet Club: Every day at lunchtime at the start of Term 1, Year 7s are invited to the FIRE Carrier Room, 1st floor in the NLC, to play cards, chess, socialise, and have some fun!
Tabletop Roleplaying Game Club: This club continues in 2026, where students interested in Dungeons and Dragons, Yu-gi-oh!, Magic the Gathering, and other tabletop roleplaying games are welcome to meet, discuss, and play, all in a supportive and passionate learning environment. All interests and skill levels are welcome.
Card and Board Games Club: This club invites you to come along and learn a new game or crack on with some classics. Lots of laughs to be had.
Pokémon Club: Get together to discuss all things Pokémon.
Podcast Club: Get together with some friends and record your own podcast. Make it a one off or record a series of episodes. Any topics welcome and beginners should come along to learn the ropes. Professional studio quality equipment provided.

2026 will see the launch of the first student newspaper in decades. Focussed on topics such as pop culture, reviews, gaming, etc, it will be published in Term One. Check out the digital or hard copies.
Outside of class time, the NLC continues to be open before school from 7:45am, recess, lunch, and after school, as a wonderful place to read, complete homework, socialise, and take part in our clubs and activities.
This year, at recess and lunchtime, the ground floor of the NLC will be open for students to read, complete homework, meet with teachers, and study quietly. Our knowledgeable librarians and NLC staff are there to help you! Upstairs NLC is now for all other use.
We welcome all students to the NLC for another fantastic year!
