PARADE COLLEGE

Commencement 2026

On behalf of the Parade College Leadership Team, I would like to welcome back all members of the Parade College community for the upcoming 2026 academic year. I hope all our Parade families have enjoyed a lovely and safe summer holiday period with family, friends and loved ones. Hopefully, this time of the year has been a time to rest and create some long-lasting memories. I am sure that many of our students are eager to return to catch up with their friends and teachers, and possibly families are also looking forward to the students returning to school on a daily basis as well.

A sincere welcome to all our new students in 2026 and their families. We have our new Year 7 students commencing, along with a number of new students in Years 8-12. There will be lots of emotions that come with commencing at a new school, and those emotions will range from being totally excited, to a little nervous and apprehensive. Please be assured that all our staff are looking forward to supporting our new students so that they can have a rewarding and memorable journey at Parade College. There are so many opportunities for students to get involved in various activities, clubs and events and I encourage our students to give new things a go. This will ensure our students are participating in activities with students that have similar interests and will provide opportunities for them to further develop friendships and of course make new ones.

College Theme for 2026

Our College Theme for 2026 again remains consistent:

Walking Together – Relationships, Respect, Resilience.

As we continue to emphasise the importance of RESPECT in all that we do, it is so important for all of us understand the significance of having positive relationships at school with others and building our own resilience to be able to handle any difficult situations that we are confronted with us.

We were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, to stay together, both outwardly and inwardly.

Ephesians 4:1:6

4 … to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 ….making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

This prayer of unity calls us to live as one in a world where all people are woven together. As a Parade College community, we celebrate the individual spirit of each of us and strive to always work and walk together in partnership, with respect, resilience, and valuing relationships.

The College theme highlights the importance of working together in a shared partnership – students, their families, and our staff. Our common goal at Parade is to ensure that all of our students and staff can thrive in a safe, caring and loving community, so that they can be the very best versions of themselves, driving themselves and each other to become better human beings, to achieve their goals and dreams, to reach their academic potential and to make the lives of those around them much richer. It is through respect for ourselves and others, that we can truly create a culture where everyone is appreciated and valued. When respect becomes the major focus in our interactions with others, everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed and achieve to their full potential. We look forward to our students driving this culture of respect.

Buses

Anthony Glatzel, Logistics Coordinator, has allocated students to the various College bus services. All students using services to or from the College direct must have a current College bus pass and/or a myki card.

Traffic and Parking

Traffic will be very heavy on the College property on the first few days of school, both in the mornings and afternoons. If you wish to drop off your child, please come early.

Parents/carers who wish to park should do so only in designated car parks, well off the roadways, and cooperate with instructions from College staff/parking officials. Please take note of all of the parking/drop off signs along the driveway at the Bundoora Campus. The majority of car park spaces are allocated to our staff and parking bays for staff are numbered. Visitor car parking is denoted by the relevant signs to the left of the main driveway at our Bundoora Campus.

Students cannot be dropped off within the main College bus circuit near College Admin Reception. This area is reserved for College buses and designated staff parking bays.

We kindly ask that all drivers be attentive to students crossing the roadway and to give way at designated crossings.

College Newsletter

This Newsletter is our major means of communication with parents and families, so please ensure that you take the time to read it. The College Newsletter is published once a month, and it will be sent out electronically. It is also available on the College website. Hard copies are available for collection at Reception at both campuses for anyone unable to access the Newsletter electronically.

Parents/cares/families are urged to ensure that we have their current preferred email address to receive the Newsletter. Please advise Reception immediately of any change of residential or email addresses and phone numbers.

We continue to be a community that promotes the safety of all, and we all have a role to play in making Parade a great place to learn and grow.

We wish you all the very best for the year ahead and look forward to working with your children and meeting you throughout the year.

To our students and their families, we extend a warm welcome to the new school year. Especially to our new Year 7 students, who are commencing their secondary education and all other students new to the College. For our Year 12 students, 2026 marks the final chapter of their secondary schooling and we wish them all the very best for the year ahead and trust that their efforts will lead to successful outcomes. Parade prides itself on being an inclusive school, embracing a diverse student body. We encourage every student, across all year levels, to fully engage with the opportunities available to them.

2026 Resource List

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we wish to remind families, if you have not already, to order your child’s resources for 2026 in time for the commencement of Term 1. Resource lists were emailed to families and are also available online at Campion Education (www.campion.com.au).

To place your orders, please visit Campion’s website and use the following codes:

  • Bundoora Campus: CQW7

For students enrolled in VCE Unit 1 & 2 or Unit 3 & 4 subjects that require an Edrolo textbook and/or digital subscription, payments must be made via the Edrolo Payment portal (www.edrolo.com.au/activate/mkp-rxb). These subjects will be clearly indicated on the resource list. Detailed instructions on how to make payments for Edrolo resources were included in the letter sent with the resource lists to families of students in Years 10 to 12.

All other Year 7 to 12 digital resources listed on your child’s resource list must be ordered and paid for, through Campion Education.

Year 12 2026 VCE and VCE VM Day at La Trobe University

All Year 12 students – VCE, VCE VM and Sports Academy will launch into their 2026 school year with a fantastic opening day at La Trobe University on Thursday 29 January. Guest presenters, past students and staff from both La Trobe University and Parade will run a day that caters for all students in the Parade Class of 2026.

This is a compulsory event for all Year 12 students with the correct summer school uniform to be worn and students are asked to meet at La Trobe at 8.15am.

Students commenced in their 2026 classes during the Term Four early commencement period. Timetables have been constructed to maximise student elective choice. Students in Years 7 to 9 cannot make changes to their elective or core subjects. We encourage students and their families to work in partnership with the subject teachers and to seek support from their tutor teacher where the transition to new classes may be challenging.

A new school year is an exciting opportunity for all students to commence fresh with new goals they hope to realise. We encourage all students to consider the College’s PEERS agreement and especially consider how they may better engage with their schooling and elevate their expectations to ensure they strive to achieve their personal best.

Upcoming teaching and learning dates:
  • Year 7 ACER PAT Testing to occur in classes in Week 3. These results are for school use only and help us to develop teaching programs for your child.
  • Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN occurs from 11 March 2026.

Year 9 students will commence their first Extended Learning Project (ELP) on Wednesday 4 February. Families should be aware that ExCEL classes may be timetabled at either the Bundoora or Preston Campus and that changes to ExCEL subjects are not able to be made throughout the year.

Year 9 students may wear their sports uniform on ExCEL days and should ensure that they are at the correct campus in time for Tutor Group.

Students and their families will be able to determine which campus their child’s ExCEL subject is based at from the room number on their child’s SIMON timetable. Rooms commencing with ‘R’ or ‘K’ are located at the Preston Campus (e.g. R14, K17) while all other room codes are located at the Bundoora Campus.

Welcome to Parade College for 2026

Welcome back to existing families and a very warm welcome to our new families joining Parade College in 2026! We look forward to getting to know you all throughout the year and wish all our students a smooth transition back to school life after their summer holidays!

There are so many things to discover and try at Parade College, and we hope your child find their interests and passions and follow them during their journey with us. We encourage you to remind your child to check the Student Bulletin each day for news about clubs, activities and promotions right across the College! This will help to make their secondary school experience personal. The best advice we can give our newest members of the College is to take advantage of all opportunities they are offered as this will help with the transition, making new friends and connecting to the College on many different levels.

Year 7 2026 Families

Our newest Paradians attended the Orientation Sessions for the 2026 Year 7 students in December last year. Tutor Teachers and House Leaders had a great time getting to know their students and enjoyed their company. We hope our Year 7 students’ first day on Friday 30 January is equally as exciting and reassuring for them.

We know transition to a new school can be a time of great trepidation for students and their families, so here are some important upcoming events and dates for the beginning of the 2026 year.

Please remember we are all here to assist and your child’s Tutor Teacher and House Leader are a wealth of information should you have any concerns or questions.

Year 7 First Day

Friday 30 January - 8.35am to 3.15pm

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students on Friday 30 January at 8.35am in Moore Hall.

Parents and Carers driving their child:

Please use the designated visitor car park for drop-off or parking. After drop-off, you are warmly invited to join other Year 7 families in the Atrium (adjacent to Moore Hall) for tea and coffee.

Students being dropped off:

Staff will be on hand to guide students directly to Moore Hall, where they will meet their Tutor Teacher and House Leader. For everyone’s safety, please follow the directions of the traffic wardens on the day.

  • On the first day, all Year 7 students will need to bring their own exercise books for subjects, pens, stationery, laptop and padlock for their locker.
  • Year 7 have Sport each Thursday after lunch.
  • College Summer Academic Uniform will be worn Friday 30 January. Please note, school shoes are required to be made of hard, black, polishable leather – these provide greater protection than ‘sports’ style shoes.
  • Students will need to bring their recess/snacks and lunch, or alternatively the canteen will be open for students to purchase lunch.

Fáilte Liturgy 2026

Friday 30 January 2.25pm to 3.15pm

On the first day we have the Fáilte (Welcome) Liturgy, where we recognise Year 7 and Year 12 mentors. This Liturgy welcomes our newest Paradians, recognises their work with their Year 12 mentor, and begins the process of handing on the traditions of our College.

Year 7 parents/carers are very welcome to join the students and staff for this in Moore Hall at Bundoora. Please arrive early to ensure we can begin on time. The Liturgy will begin at 2.25pm and conclude at 3.15pm. All Year 7 students will then be dismissed and able to head home with parents or on the buses and public transport.

Year 7 2026 Camp Information Sessions at Meet the Tutor Evening.

On Thursday 12 February, parents/carers will be able to meet with their child’s Tutor Teacher and attend an information session with their child’s House Leader which will cover the details of the Year 7 Camp in March.

These events will be held on Thursday 12 February. A letter containing details about how to book the interview appointment with the Tutor Teacher for your Year 7 child (and your children in other year levels) and the times of the Year 7 Camp Information Sessions will be emailed home in the coming weeks – please check your email for this letter.

Commencement Dates for 2026

At Parade, we value being on time and prepared, as it is respectful of others and allows the things that we need to do to get done so that we can move on to the things we enjoy.

We have highlighted some key dates for the first few weeks so that all families can plan in advance

Friday 30 January - All Year 7, 11, and 12 students and all students at Preston campus.

8.30am - Arrival and Tutor Group

3.15pm - Finish for 7, 11 and 12 students

Monday 2 February - All Year Levels

8.30am - Arrival and Tutor Group

3.15pm - Finish for all students (Year 7 students finish at 3:05pm first 2 weeks)

Uniform

At Parade, we value the tradition of wearing the College uniform respectfully to honour all Old Paradians who have worn the purple, green and blue with pride and respect over the last 150 years.

All families received updated communication regarding the College’s expectations regarding the correct wearing of uniform and their general appearance.

All Day Absence, Early Departure, or Late Arrival

All day absences must be recorded on PAM (Parent Access Module) each morning students are away. If no reason is given, parents will be sent a text message around 11.30am reminding them to log into PAM to record the reason for your child’s absence.

Late arrivals and early departures must be recorded by families through PAM. There is no absence phone line, and students signing in late or leaving early will need to have had this recorded on PAM in advance. This will ensure our records are accurate.

If your child is arriving late or leaving early, this needs to be recorded on PAM as mentioned above. This can be found in the same place where “All Day” absences are recorded.

Once you click on the Parent Notified Absences icon, you will click arriving late or leaving early (see below). Once submitted this entry appears on your child’s electronic roll and alerts Student Services. There is no need to provide a handwritten note.

Your child will simply head to Student Services to officially sign in/out.

Please ensure your child does not have access to your PAM account. If you have forgotten your password, need an account reset or your child has access to your account, please contact pamsupport@parade.vic.edu.au

Meet the Tutor – Term 1 2026

Instructions on how to book appointments and the times of the information sessions will be emailed home to families in the coming weeks.

Parents and Carers were communicated details on December 12 2025 and invited to attend our new format of “Meet the Tutor” evening for all students at Bundoora and Preston on Thursday 12 February. Details for onsite and online information sessions have been previously communicated and saved under family resources through PAM.

The phone app is even easier!

Live leaderboards total the reading per class, year level, and across the school, and bonus time is awarded for completing weekly challenges. All instructions, rewards, and challenges will be found on the Learning Centre Homepage (BeanStack LearnPath), SIMON Daily Messages, and PAM.

Nearly all types of reading and listening to audiobooks count so we invite you to get reading 20+ minutes a day. At Parade, Reading Matters.
